David Moon (CEO & Head Instructor)

David Moon is a 6th-degree black belt in Moorimdo, trained under Great Grandmaster Yong Moon. As the head instructor and operations manager at the academy, he oversees all classes and ensures high-quality training for students. Beyond Moorimdo, David has an extensive background in multiple martial arts, including Taekwondo, Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, and Kung Fu.

He is also the founder of MRG’s Mixed Martial Arts Program (MooriMMA), a structured curriculum with a belt system designed to teach MMA effectively.

A Los Angeles native, David attended Wilton Place Elementary, John Burroughs Middle School, Math and Science College Preparatory, and later earned a degree in Sociology with a minor in Film from UCLA.

Before his martial arts career, David was a top-ranked junior golfer, competing at elite levels worldwide. As a PGA Associate, he continues to share his passion for golf through private instruction.

With a unique blend of athletic excellence and teaching expertise, David is dedicated to helping students of all ages and skill levels reach their full potential in both martial arts and sports.

Daniel Lee (Director & Cardio Kickboxing Coach)

Daniel H. Lee started his Moorimdo training at 4 years old and is a 6th degree black belt under Great Grandmaster Yong Moon. He has also trained and competed in various other martial art styles up to the collegiate level. He attended the University of California, Berkeley and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology.

Daniel is the Senior Director of Sales at Benev, an FDA-registered pharmaceutical, cosmeceutical, and medical device company specializing in cutting-edge regenerative, restorative, and bio-stimulatory products for the global medical aesthetics market. With a strong focus on innovation and results, Daniel plays a key role in driving growth and delivering value to healthcare professionals worldwide.

In addition to his role at Benev, Daniel is the founder of a boutique consulting firm that helps businesses streamline operations and achieve sustainable revenue growth. His expertise spans strategic planning, operational efficiency, and business development, making him a trusted partner for companies looking to reach their full potential.

Nacho (Muay Thai & Jiu Jitsu Coach)

Nacho was born and raised in Spain, where he began his career as a Sanda fighter and earned a Bachelor's degree in Sports Science.

After securing three consecutive gold medals at the Spanish Wushu Championship, winning a bronze at the European Championship, and being recognized as a High-Level Athlete by Royal Decree, he relocated to Los Angeles. From there, he continued to expand his fighting career, gaining experience in Muay Thai, Kickboxing, and MMA. Additionally, he has trained renowned fighters from organizations such as the UFC, Bellator, Glory, and Karate Combat.

Jay Garber (Jiu Jitsu Coach)

Jeremiah "Jay" Garber is a black belt in 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu under Eddie Bravo, with a strong wrestling foundation. His martial arts journey began at an early age, as wrestling is more common and affordable for young boys in Iowa than daycare. This early exposure set the stage for his later ventures into Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, and Mixed Martial Arts.

In addition to his work with MRG, Jay is an instructor at 10th Planet Headquarters and 10th Planet Torrance. He also runs a program at The Yard. Jay is enthusiastic about developing the grappling program at MRG, where he brings his extensive experience and passion for grappling to a new audience.

After high school, Jay served six years in the Air Force, during which he began his Jiu Jitsu training. While stationed abroad, he developed and created martial arts programs at various duty stations. Academically, Jay holds an associate degree in Statistics and is nearing the completion of his Bachelor's in Psychology at Azusa Pacific University. He aspires to pursue an M.D. to become a psychiatrist.

Outside of martial arts, Jay enjoys reading, traveling, shooting, camping, and horseback riding.

Anton T. Bex (Muay Thai & MMA Coach)

With over 25 years of experience in martial arts and combat sports, Anton competed in MMA, Kudo, Kyokushin, Sanda, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Kickboxing, earning several "Fight of the Night" awards in MMA. Notable accomplishments include being the 2023 Kudo -260 Category North American Champion, the 2020 Kyokushin IKO U.S. 80kg Weight Category Champion, and the 2013 ICMAC Sanda 170lbs Champion. He also studied various other martial arts, including Jeet Kune Do, Baji Quan, Boxing, Fencing, Eskrima, Chun Kuk Do, and Kung Fu San Soo.

As a martial arts actor and stuntman, Anton appeared in Dragon Ball Z: Light of Hope, Snow White and the 7 Samurai, Prepare to Die, and Fast Vengeance. Additionally, he featured in several music videos for artists such as DaBaby, Jake Paul, and Reel Big Fish.

Justin Cruz (Moorimdo & MMA Assistant Coach)

Justin De La Cruz started training in Moorimdo at the age of 13, and currently holds a Third Degree Black Belt under Chief Master David Moon. He is a brown belt in the MooriMMA Program. He began his martial arts training in Shito-Ryu Karate at the age of six and competed in his school days. Justin currently teaches the kids and teens classes at the academy.

Justin was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He attended Star Christian School and Child Care Center, St Agnes Catholic School, Los Angeles Senior High School, and studied at California State University, Los Angeles, where he earned a bachelor's degree in communication as a first-generation graduate. When he isn't doing martial arts, he likes to hike, swim, and participate in guitar performances for foundations and concerts.

James Kang (Assistant MMA Coach)

James has had a strong foundation in kickboxing and boxing since high school, which sparked his deep passion for martial arts. Over the years, he has competed in amateur fights, coached fighters at NUCA—an academy founded by Conor McGregor's coach—and even established the USC MMA team during his time as a student. James has also trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for five years under Won BJJ, a member of the renowned Carlson Gracie team, where he earned a gold medal in the JJWL blue belt division.

With eight years of MMA training, James remains committed to competition, consistently refining his skills. Beyond the physical aspects of martial arts, he places a strong emphasis on technique, strategy, and philosophy. Whether coaching students or choreographing fight scenes for film, James prioritizes quality over quantity, a principle he has honed through years of dedication and experience in the martial arts world.

Brandon Soohoo (Ambassador)

Brandon Soohoo is a lifelong martial artist with a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a diverse background in Karate, Boxing, Wushu, and Wing Chun. Currently, his favorite style is Muay Thai, of which he is an avid practitioner. An LA native with a passion for performance and creativity, Brandon has been professionally acting since the age of 10, showcasing his martial arts skills in numerous fight scenes and stunt performances in movies like "Tropic Thunder" and "G.I. Joe," as well as TV shows such as "From Dusk till Dawn." SooHoo also amassed a substantial following on social media, growing an audience of over 1.4 million followers online, where he creates comedic content centered around martial arts.

For Brandon, martial arts is more than just a physical practice; it is a lifestyle that unites mind, body, and spirit. He believes it is one of the pillars of his life, teaching him invaluable lessons that have shaped who he is today. When he is not training or on set, Brandon enjoys exploring his passions in cooking, filmmaking, travel, and various visual arts.

Allan De La Cruz (Assistant Kids/Teens Instructor)

Allan De La Cruz started training in Moorimdo at the age of 9, and currently holds a Second Degree Black Belt under Chief Master David Moon. He is a blue belt in the MooriMMA Program.

Bentley (Academy Dawg)

Bentley is a devoted and affectionate emotional support dog who provides constant comfort and companionship to his owner. As an American Bully XL, Bentley has a muscular yet gentle build, with a striking coat of short, sleek fur and a calm, confident demeanor. Despite his imposing size, Bentley’s nurturing personality shines through, offering a sense of security and reassurance to those around him. He has a unique ability to sense when his owner is feeling anxious or overwhelmed, often seeking them out to rest his head on their lap or gently nudge their hand with his nose. His presence is grounding, and his loyalty is unwavering, always ready to provide support when his owner needs it most.

Beyond his role as an emotional support dog, Bentley enjoys daily walks, playtime in the yard, and lounging comfortably by his owner’s side. His training includes providing deep pressure therapy, where he leans against his owner to help ease feelings of anxiety or panic. Bentley is also known for his calm interactions with others, whether it’s greeting people with a wag of his tail or socializing with other dogs. Through his intuitive care, deep connection, and loving nature, Bentley has become an irreplaceable part of his owner’s life, offering a source of peace, stability, and emotional strength in times of need. With Bentley by their side, his owner faces each day with renewed confidence and emotional resilience.
